When applying for an Indian Permanent Account Number (PAN) card online through NSDL (Protean) or UTIITSL, applicants must upload scanned files of their passport photograph and signature. These web portals enforce strict file filters: files exceeding 50KB or possessing wrong dimensions are rejected.
Official Dimensions Guidelines:
- Passport Photograph: Physical size must be 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm. Scanned at 200 DPI, this equals exactly 276 pixels width by 197 pixels height.
- Signature Scan: Physical size must be 4.5 cm x 2.0 cm. Scanned at 200 DPI, this equals exactly 354 pixels width by 157 pixels height.
- File Format: Only JPEG/JPG formats are accepted.
- Max File Size: Must be strictly less than 50 KB for both files.
